Yacht crossing the Mediterranean at golden hour
Sunset · Private Charter

Sunset yacht charter in Malta, on your private deck.

Two to three hours of golden hour. Valletta bastions, Comino cliffs, or a slow run along the Sliema coast. Drinks on deck, music your call, crew running the day.

Why a sunset charter

The most-asked evening on the Maltese sea

Sunset is Malta's signature, and the land version is now extremely crowded. Café-bars at Valletta Saluting Battery, the Upper Barrakka, and Dingli Cliffs deliver the postcard, but they also deliver the queue and the table next to a stag party. From a private yacht the same sunset is yours, with crew running the day and drinks on the deck.

Sunset windows by month

June and July sunset sits around eight in the evening. May and September around seven thirty. April and October around seven. The captain books the pickup against the actual sunset time, not a fixed slot, so you arrive at the right anchor for the colour.

Valletta route

Pickup at Sliema or the Valletta Waterfront. The captain runs into Marsamxett, around the western bastions of the city, and out into Grand Harbour. The yacht holds with the bow facing the sun while the limestone glows. Fifteen minutes of horizon, then a slow run home along the coast.

Comino cliff route

For groups already at sea or staying in the north. Pickup at Buġibba or Mġarr Gozo, run out west of Comino, anchor with the cliffs to the east and the open sea to the west. The cliffs go red at golden hour and the silence on the deck during the last ten minutes is the part guests always mention afterwards.

Sliema coastal run

Two-hour cruises, ideal when guests fly in late or have a dinner reservation ashore. The yacht runs from Sliema along Tigné, around Manoel Island, and back. Drinks on the foredeck, no swim stop, two glasses and back to the dock.

Dinner-on-board option

For private engagements, milestone birthdays, and small-group corporate events. We arrange a private chef on board with a three-course menu. The yacht holds at anchor during dinner, the run home is at full dark with the city lights of Valletta on the horizon.

Music and DJ on board

Every yacht has Bluetooth speakers — bring your own playlist. For larger groups we arrange a portable DJ rig on the aft deck. Music must respect Maltese harbour noise limits when anchored near shore; the captain manages the volume so no one ashore complains.

Best yachts for a sunset run

The Sunseeker 86 Jupju is the most-asked sunset yacht — flybridge, salon, foredeck loungers. The Predator 72 for groups that want speed plus the deck for drinks. The Manhattan 66 for mixed-age groups who want the salon during the cool. Browse the full Malta fleet.

Pricing

Most sunset charters are quoted as a half-day at the yacht's standard rate. Day boats run €700 to €1,300 for two hours. Premium yachts run €3,000 to €6,000 depending on the size and the catering. Full pricing detail is on our prices page.

Common questions

Sunset cruise details

What time does the sunset cruise depart?
Pickup is timed to the sunset on the day you book. In June and July sunset is around eight in the evening, so we leave the dock at six. In May and September it shifts to seven. The captain confirms the exact pickup time the morning of the charter.
How long is the cruise?
Most sunset charters run two to three hours. Three-hour cruises give you a swim stop on the way out, a drinks-on-deck phase during the golden hour, and a slow run home. Two-hour cruises skip the swim and focus on the horizon.
Is dinner included on a sunset charter?
Dinner is an add-on, not part of the standard quote. We arrange catering on board for €60 to €90 a head, or a private chef for €180 to €250 a head. Some groups book a beach club table on shore and use the yacht for the cruise leg only.
Can we have music or a DJ on board?
Yes. Every yacht in our fleet has a Bluetooth speaker system. For larger groups (12+ guests) we can bring in a portable DJ rig and a sound engineer for an additional fee. Music must stay below Maltese harbour noise limits when anchored close to shore.
Best route for a Malta sunset?
Three main options. Valletta Grand Harbour west-facing for the bastions glowing at sunset. Comino cliffs for the open-sea horizon. Sliema along the coast for shorter charters. The captain runs through the options with you the day before.
